Resumo
O objetivo deste estudo é estimar e analisar 4 indicadores selecionados de contradições de acordo com as preferências reprodutivas femininas, chamadas “mismach”. Busca-se analisar as respostas que as mulheres dão ao serem questionadas sobre o número ideal de filhos, ou número real de filhos, intenções futuras de fecundidade e o uso de métodos contraceptivos. Foram utilizados dados de pesquisas demográficas e de saúde reprodutiva de quatorze países latino-americanos entre 2006 e 2017. Foi observado um valor estimado de 11% de ocorrência de mismatch para os países estudados, sendo prevalente os casos em que as mulheres com discrepância negativa dizem que não querem mais filhos no futuro. Pode-se inferir que, apesar da existência de várias inconsistências, as respostas das mulheres latino-americanas às perguntas sobre preferências reprodutivas são robustas e bastante confiáveis.
