Abstract
In recent years, the migration rate of Mexican professionals to the United States (U.S.) has increased significantly, especially among women compared to men. However, to date, little is known about this migrant subpopulation. In this context the following questions arise: what are the characteristics of high-skilled female emigrants? What are their education levels and field of work? And what are their employment conditions? The aim of this research is to analyze the employment of professional Mexican women working in the U.S. compared to native and immigrant women from other countries and regions working in the U.S. Using several waves of data from the 2014 American Community Survey (acs), we show demographic and education trends of professional Mexican women, as well as their rates of economic participation and occupational patterns and salaries in the United States..
