Abstract

In this paper we explore if, as a result of the enactment of the law on women’s access to a life free of violence in 2007, changes occur in the search of exits to violent marital relationships through greater recourse to authorities and/or the separation among Mexican women. Based on data from the national survey of the dynamics of relationships in homes at two times (2006 and 2011), prior and subsequent to the Act, we estimated the prevalence of these two options of exit to conjugal violence as well as the factors associated with the occurrence of each one of them, using logistic regression models. Significant changes in the use of any of these outputs to violence between 2006 and 2011 are not evident.
