Abstract

We present the results of extensive research on the final trajectories of life and social health services at home in the Metropolitan Area of the City of Buenos. In this sense, the prospective longitudinal research produced primary data on the composition and health expenditure of older households with advanced chronic morbidities who received home care during the period August 2014-December 2015. Death or survival showed statistical association with the type of household in which people resided, as well as with family expenses. The increase in the degree of dependence was also statistically associated with expenditure. The research provides information on family caregivers, noting that as their age increases, male participation in care increases and provides empirical evidence to guide long-term care policies in Latin America, including palliative care.
