Abstract

This research focuses on the Priority Attention Zones (ZAP) of Tijuana, highlighting the unique vulnerabilities and inequalities faced by women in these areas, marked by socioeconomic and cultural challenges. Its objective is to address gender inequity through a transdisciplinary participatory social intervention, focused on strengthening women's capacities, competencies and knowledge to improve their health and well-being with a gender equity approach. The proposed methodology combines situational analysis, identification of ZAPs, pre-intervention diagnostics, and the implementation and evaluation of an intervention-action plan, highlighting the importance of public policies that improve women's lives by facilitating access to education, employment, health, and security in an environment that promotes their well-being and respects their rights. In addition, relevant literature is reviewed that supports the effectiveness of participatory interventions on women's health and well-being, including approaches to participation and autonomy in health, food security and nutrition education, and social support and mental health. These strategies highlight the need to comprehensively address women's needs, recognizing their complexity and diversity, and the potential for significant improvement in quality of life and gender equity in Tijuana through the practical application of these models and theories.
