Abstract
This article analyzes the association between the occurrence of traffic accidents and demographic and behavioral factors in Brazil. We use the database of the National Health Survey (PNS) 2013 and analyze 26,754 cases of car and motorcycle drivers aged 18 or over. Through Poisson regression models we estimate prevalence ratios (PR) for three multivariate models. Among the associated factors included, only driving classes did not reach statistical significance in any of the models, and different effects were found for the habit of drinking and driving on the occurrence of traffic accidents among men and women.
